The Innovative Technology Society hosted a guest session on 14 April 2014. Dr. Hiro Takahashi, founder and CEO of DTS Inc., presented on Big Data, distributed systems architecture with nodes, and his supercomputer-domain experience across USA and Japan.
Detailed Profile
Prof. Dr. Hiro Takahashi is an innovation-focused researcher with a PhD in Engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology and an MOT from Tokyo University of Science. His PhD research focused on autonomous decentralized distributed system architecture with multiple node cache models (L3-only and L3/L4). He innovated the DTS (Data Transmission System) architecture for modern computer systems.
He has held major academic and leadership roles including Visiting Professor at NUST SEECS, Professor at Jinnah University for Women, Professor and Director ORIC at Greenwich University, Associate Professor at DHA Suffa University, and Dean of Computer Science at Emaan Institute of Management and Science. He also contributed to supercomputer-domain engineering for more than ten years in Oregon and Silicon Valley, California, and worked on new computer architecture and radial BUS model design in the USA.
His recent research centers on ontology categorization for AI-driven service optimization, including hybrid content identification using ontology and machine learning. He authored the book 'Ontology Categorization and its implementation' (ACM Publisher, 2017). He also advances the concept of Personal Artificial Intelligence (PAI), where AI systems reflect individual human intelligence patterns and support smart-city life across devices, materials, automobiles, and residences.
He has also advanced blockchain systems using DTS-based performance enhancement to increase mining hash rate, contributed to Japan and Europe blockchain programs as a technical board member, and published IEEE-reviewed papers. He became chairman of Pakistan Blockchain Academic Council in 2019 and has contributed to national AI training initiatives.
Prof. Dr. Hiro Takahashi has contributed to Japan-Pakistan business development through technology, industry collaboration, and investment. He served on Pakistan federal Board of Investment and Pakistan-Japan business council initiatives.
He founded DTS Inc in 1996, established local operations in Karachi in 2007, and has invested more than USD 10 million in Pakistan since 2001. In the energy sector he worked on magnesium battery implementation and RAIC control technology, and developed ADETS (Autonomous Decentralized Energy Transmission System) for smart-grid integration of solar, wind, and battery systems.
He helped launch Tokyo Multimedia in Karachi to educate young engineers and designers and served as Honorary Investment Counselor for Board of Investment, Prime Minister's Secretariat of Pakistan. Projects linked to his contribution include water filtration systems, magnesium battery factory planning in Punjab, halal food promotion, and textile export collaboration.
He also contributed to educational and institutional development, including NUST SEECS, Jinnah University for Women, Greenwich University, and Mauritius branch-campus initiatives such as 'Education 4.0' based on ontology knowledge classification.
